For digital console downloads, this was a slow week for all concerned. But it's to be expected - we're right at the beginning of December.

GamerByte's pick of the week would be Banjo Kazooie on Xbox Live Arcade. Being a huge fan of platform games - 2D and 3D, Banjo is a very welcome addition to the service, especially since we've got such a drought of platformers on all systems.

It looks like the first batch of downloadable Avatar clothing has hit Xbox Live, and it’s adorably seasonal. Right now, you can pick up a bunch of ski and snowboard apparel so that they can keep warm this winter. Frankly though, it still seems just plain stupid to shell out real cash for some virtual clothing for your virtual avatar which has no real…what’s that? It’s free!? Oh…in that case, my little avatar needs him some gloves. And maybe a hat.

Rare has released a patch for Banjo-Kazooie that fixes a number of glitches in the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the classic N64 game. Unfortunately players will have to start their game over once they patch it. Of course if you don’t patch, you can’t finish it anyway.

Here’s a list of targeted bugs from CVG:

  • The update addresses issues experienced by people playing in the 1080i and 1080p. Players will be able to enjoy the game in uncompromised 1080 loveliness.
  • It also addresses the Bottles Secret Puzzle glitch for all players starting the game afresh.
  • Finally, it also sorts out the one or two instances of strange leaderboard entries but as part of that, two of the leaderboards will need to be reset to make everything fair and square again…

With its aggressive pursuit of the casual market, it makes sense that Microsoft would want one of the most popular types of casual games -- seek-and-find -- to be represented on Xbox Live Arcade. Fans of the genre will finally be able to get their squint on when TikGames brings newly-announced Interpol to the download service.

If you've been chomping at the bit to stare endlessly at messy rooms, you'll get your chance this Winter for 800 ($10).
