If you live in the UK and do your food shopping at Morrisons, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for some gaming deals. For this coming Monday only (meaning tomorrow!), you’ll be able to get some great prices on both Wii and DS games. I have no idea what games will be on sale, but you’ll be able to snatch up Wii titles for £15 and DS titles for £12. I am sure there will be some gems worth shelling out the dough for.

I will admit it, and I don’t care who harasses me for it. I am excited for Pitfall: The Big Adventure. It’s not going to be a AAA game, but damnit, I want it! I really liked the last Pitfall, and I’m ready to jump back in with a sequel. I am a platforming whore, and love when a new game comes out that ventures into this old genre. We really don’t see too much platforming anymore, and I am not quite sure why. I’ll definitely take what I can get!

“There are a lot of companies doing the same thing at the moment. Everyone’s in a hurry to make the next Wii Sports, because Wii Sports was so popular. As a short term solution, that’s all well and good. But you don’t do yourself any favours in the long term. Let’s say someone buys a Nintendo Wii; they buy Wii Fit, and go “this is fine, let’s buy this sports game,” and then go “this is shit, Wii’s shit” and the Wii’s back in the cupboard. …There has to be to be something else on Wii. There has to be games for gamers, there has to be games that make sense as games, and not just as a means to make money quickly.” - Dean Scott, Overlord dev

We have Wii Sports, and Wii Sports Resort is on the way. We don’t need Big Beach Sports, Deca Sports, and all of those other titles. Since when did the game industry become so incapable of coming up with fresh ideas?

I don’t think anyone has asked this question yet…or at least written about it. We are all wondering how much of an impact (if any) the 360 price cut will have on the Wii. Has anyone wondered whether the price drop is substantial enough? Will a price that is $50 less be able to bring in new gamers? If so, does the drop warrant a switch from a potential Wii purchase to a 360?

Just like the discussion we did with Sony's PS3 price cuts and hardware refresh, we like to play devils advocate again and discuss the flip side of the coin and what a price cut actually translates to gamers.

Microsoft has indicated their desire to go after and take a piece of Nintendo Wii's market share. That is why Microsoft has focused so much resource on the social aspects to Xbox Live such as the new Mii-like avatars and the Nintendo like channels in the new dashboard.

It makes sense, if you want to go after a target audience you have to emulate what the successful competitor is doing. With the new Xbox 360 Arcade priced below.....

WW: What controller schemes are supported? Is there any use of the Wii Remote’s motion sensing?

FB: We are supporting both the Wii Remote and the Classic Controller. Although we are excited about motion sensing in games, we wanted to make sure gameplay dictated the control scheme, not the other way around. So after experimenting with a couple of ideas for pointer control and motion sensing, we concluded the game felt much more focused and tight using standard buttons and the Control Pad.

So here we go -- the next iteration of Animal Crossing is on its way, and we showed you the latest (the box) already. The art definitely emphasizes the larger scope of the title, while still using the familiar logo and character design. By now, though, you probably know whether or not you like Animal Crossing, considering you've had two chances to give it a shot. For a game like this, does the box even really matter? Do you thinkt hey should have changed it, or was keeping the characters -- with their familiar looks -- prominent important? Should the franchise's icons, like KK Slider, been more prominent? Do the fruit trees, and the idea of harvesting all that produce, give you nightmares?

Ask anyone what comes from Texas and you'll get one of two answers: Steers or queers. Yeah, thanks for that Mr. Kubrick, you a**hole. The common conception that only backwards rednecks and drunkards reside in the Lone Star State is incorrect, if not understandably conceived.

Not only have we recently evolved from riding horses everywhere to driving cars, we actually have a good number of videogame developers in the area, such as id Software, 3D Realms, and Gearbox Software. So when Editor-in-Chief Nick Chester asked me to represent Destructoid at Gearbox Software's "Victory Party" Friday night, I felt it was my duty to represent the southern population of the industry.

The "Victory Party" was held in Dallas, Texas to celebrate the release of Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC) and Samba de Amigo (Wii), both of which come out on September 23. I was told I could bring one guest along, so before the party I picked up fellow Dallas community member Blehman, and we headed over to the Palladium Ballroom where the event was taking place.
Details after the jump.
