The DS offers a new way for adventure fans to immerse themselves into the fascinating storyline of the award-winning Syberia:

For Kate Walker, a sophisticated New York Attorney, the Voralberg Toy Company acquisition seemed like an easy task: a quick stop-over to a small alpine village in France to buy-out an old toy factory, then straight back home to New York. But deep in the alpine valleys, Kate uncovers a secret which starts her on a fascinating quest of discovery. Due to an unexpected twist, her business trip quickly becomes a journey across land and time throwing all she values into question, while the deal she set out to sign becomes a pact with destiny…

This is the first Nancy Drew game to step out of the PC genre.

Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek takes advantage of the innovative Wii controller to add depth to gameplay which is pure point and click on the PC. Players will engage in gesture based minigames as they dig into the mysterious accidents surrounding the Chantal family’s Icicle Creek lodge.

My daughters have really enjoyed the Nancy Drew series. Translating Nancy Drew adventures for the Wii will make them more accessible than ever to a growing casual gaming audience that are often more comfortable with consoles. Gamers can uncover Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek for the Wii in local retails stores or order it online from www.HerInteractive.com.

In order to ease the wait for the much anticipated third title in the award-winning Strategic Command game series and have also just published an online version of the full game manual.

What does “gone gold” mean? It means that the game code has been “frozen” and a final release candidate has been created. It does NOT mean that the game is ready for release yet. They are now finalizing the testing, proofing all the print materials, creating and testing the installers, and preparing the online delivery system for the downloads. A firm release date as well as info about pre-orders will be announced Sunday, December 7 (yes, that’s a historic date). The game is a stand-alone third part of the series, does not require any previous games to play, and will cost $45.

For more information on the game, hit one of the links above.

Have you be cursed with the world's heaviest feet? Do you leave footprints in cement? Do you go through Rock Band or Guitar Hero bass pedals like tissue paper? If you answered yes to the third question, Nyko has your solution, the Metal Pedal. The pedal is compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour as well as both the original Rock Band and Rock Band 2 and is metal plated to stand up to your torturous kicking. Unfortunately, the Metal Pedal isn't hitting stores until January 2009, so you'll have to wait a bit before you can fork over the $20 price tag. Of course, as Joystiq notes, you could always try the DIY alternative, the Pedal Metal.

Now, if you answered yes to the first two questions, well, you're on the wrong website. Sorry.

[Via Joystiq]

Activision Blizzard sure knows how to get the speculation ball rolling, and with this latest bit of teasers and confirmations from the company during yesterday’s Massive Inc. event (advertising summit really) what they had to say is really not much of a surprise.

This meeting basically showcases games that would be great vehicles for in-game advertising, and the biggest one mentioned was one called Guitar Hero 5 (working/speculative title at this point) which was revealed as a screenshot featuring a Burger Kings ad next to the scrolling notes.

ActiBliz also confirmed what we already knew about the upcoming Tony Hawk game slated for an October 2009 release when a spokesman stated: “You’re not going to be playing this game with a controller in your hands”. This, however is old news to gamers who have been in the know regarding a “skateboard type” peripheral which is supposed to come with the game.

Confirmed during the event was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Fall 2009, and while no details were forthcoming on the upcoming Call of Duty title, ActiBliz did acknowledged Bizarre Creations’ “Bond Racing” (no tile was mentioned) style game which would be heading to stores sometime in September 2009. The good thing about this Bond game though, is that there is no movie tie-in associated with it and for fans of racing games, another one is in the works which is being hailed as a “Mario Kart meets Forza”.

So there ya have it. A few teasers, a few confirmations and the expectation that in-game advertising will be prevalent throughout each one of them. Hooray for greed and constantly being bombarded with advertising no matter where you look. Formally known as the American Way, it is now just the way of the world.

With the huge copies of 2.4 million (previously held by the Burning Crusade expansion) over 2.8 million copies of the MMORPG sold in the first 24 hours alone, making it the fastest-selling PC game of all time.

If one assumes that all of the copies sold were the $39.99 based edition (the collector's edition was sold for a $69.99 retail price, but also is being sold for much more) then Blizzard made just under $112 million from the sales of the boxed software alone, on a single day.

World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King was released simultaneously in North America, Europe, Chile, Argentina, and Russia on Nov. 13. Eight more countries released by Nov. 18. More than 15,000 stores had midnight openings. The Lich King numbers suggest that game companies that create the marquee titles are going to have happy holidays, even though recession is on going.

At a recent London event, Atari told MCV that "retail is still a priority," thus the company will continue shipping their games to stores in an attempt to get them in consumers' hands. Awhile back, the publisher was singing a different tune -- one of digital distribution. This has all changed and probably has resulted in Atari's hot new lineup of games. At the event, Ghostbusters, The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena were announced for next year.

And that’s not all -- there are 11 other titles hanging out in the breeze, all slated for next year. But the new "priority" is still going to coincide with digital distribution. Phil Harrison told those at the event that "Atari is bridging the gap between the physical retail space and advancing the online one" and added that the company were giving developers a chance to publish their games. Captain Obvious wonders how a bridge can be built while the gap is moving around, but believes it is a good thing when developers can publish titles.

In the end, it is just a lot of talk. I have full faith in Atari’s ability to seek out money from consumers, though, so this retail plan could work. Just not in the way the Lawnmower Man probably wants it to.
