Fans and critics alike have praised Clear Skies since its release. Indeed, the film recently took top honors at Machinima Filmfest 2008, garnering a Mackie award for Best Long Format Film. This success at the festival was met with astonishment from Clear Skies creator Ian Chisholm as well as from his...
Continue reading Massively interviews Clear Skies creator Ian Chisholm

Massively interviews Clear Skies creator Ian Chisholm originally appeared on Massively on Sat, 08 Nov 2008 16:00:00 EST. It wasn’t until we added kids and relationships that things changed. It became more about these little human beings, these ‘Sims,’ rather than just the objects in their lives.” - Lucy Bradshaw, general manager of the EA Maxis Studio

Well, I didn’t play The Sims until it hit retail, so I have no idea of knowing just what the game lacked when women weren’t closely involved with development. The final Sims title helped create numerous spin-offs, and the franchise has been a huge money-maker for EA. Whatever those women did, they did it well!

As the Mac vs PC ads not only become more and more frequent, they have also become somewhat catty and vindictive. The latest ad pits the "everyman" as a PC owner and not spoiled college kids whose parents shell out 2500 bucks for a Macbook Pro so they can chat on myspace and edit their photos. Of course, Mac counters with the overall message that PC's are outdated business machines that are technologically inept with an excuse for an operating system. Furthermore, if the Mac computer is the dorky kid from Dodgeball and the PC is a 40 something fat guy who looks like a Wendy's manager, what are the human console equivalents?

That's the question that keeps coming up. You may as well ask "What is the Internet?" or the telephone, for that matter. The simple fact of it is, that the answer is different for every user. That's why the media, businesses, universities, educators, students, writers and, indeed, all of us grapple with it every day. Oh, we can say "it's a collaborative virtual world", but that's a bit like calling film "flickering images on a white wall".
Because at the end of the day, it isn't what Second Life is that makes it what it is -- it's what you do with it. Wow, talk about dominating the list, Madden NFL 09 has crushed the competition in August, even though it released in the middle of the month. That hasn't stopped it from selling well over 2 million copies, across all platforms. As for hardware, well, it's basically the same story:

- DS: 518.3K 89.7K (-14.75%)
- Wii: 453K 102K (-18.37%)
- PSP: 253K 31.3K (12.49%)
- Xbox 360: 195.2K 9.6K (-4.68%)
- PS3: 185.4K 39.5K (-17.56%)
- PS2: 144.1K 11.4K (-7.33%)

Head past the break for the software figures.

1. Madden NFL 09 - 360 - 1 million
2. Madden NFL 09 - PS3 - 643K
3. Madden NFL 09 - PS2 - 424.5K
4. Wii Fit - Wii - 394.9K
5. Mario Kart - Wii - 328.7K
6. Wii Play w/remote - Wii - 394.9K
7. Soul Calibur IV - 360 - 174K
8. Too Human - 360 - 168.2K
9. Madden NFL 09 - Wii - 115.8K
10. Guitar Hero: On Tour - DS - 111.2K

Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

<img width="480" height="46" border="0" src="http://imageads.googleadservices.com/pagead/ads?output=png&url=http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2008/09/12/august-npd-madden-sacks-the-competition/&cuid=98:1311801&format=480x46_aff&client=ca-pub-3546992251556849&hl=en&adsafe=high&color_bg=FFFFFF&color_border=FFFFFF&color_link=66666&color_text=333333&color_url=337788&color_line=337788" / >

Ads by Google
