Zeebo is a Brazilian console that is getting a bunch of games from all different platforms. If you search the HTML code of the product page, you can see a link to an image…that image being above. How exactly do you port a Wii-specific game to a platform that doesn’t have Wii features? Oh wait…I guess that wouldn’t be hard at all in the case of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest

Pandemic Studios and Electronic Arts upcoming game is based on The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, with gameplay borrowing much from Star Wars: Battlefront II. Pandemic Studios worked with WETA Digital to add authenticity when creating the many characters featured in the game. There will be two campaigns good versus evil, with local 4 player co-op and online co-op and competitive game types. The game will also feature Howard Shore’s award winning score from the films. The Lord of the Rings: Conquest is scheduled for a release on January 13th, 2009 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS.

Jade from Beyond Good and Evil has unlockable skin in Prince of Persia

The title says it all. Everyone's favorite Jade from the cult hit Ubisoft game, Beyond Good and Evil (and winner of spots on several sexiest videogame girls lists), will be appearing on Prince of Persia. Or at least, her costume will be...

Unlockable upon completing the game, Elika can don Jade's outfit by toggling the option in the "Skins Manager" within the "Extras" menu.

No, Jade's little white tanktop and green duds cannot be worn by the Prince... although I admit that would have been really hilarious. Instead, a very appropriate Altair skin will be available for him, as noted in a previous article.

Mind you, to have access to the skins, you need to have an Ubisoft.com account that's linked to your game.

The game will be on shelves later today (December 2) and is available in PS3, Xbox 360 and PC formats.

I really hope that there is a bear suit skin unlock for the new Prince of Persia. Actually, you know what? I'm going to make a developer add a bear suit skin in a game. I will make this sh*t happen by the end of next year so help me God.

PS3 and Xbox 360 get different exclusives for Resident Evil 5

The gap between Xbox 360 and PS3 continues to widen, and even these console-exclusive offers from Resident Evil 5 (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) are giving more reasons for gamers to debate which console is the better way to go.

If you get the one for the PS3, you'll receive a Hollywood-made video on the making of RE5. Pretty sweet, and it sounds like a lot of effort went in it, plus it gives you more behind-the-scenes info on the game. Problem is, it's very likely to show up on YouTube, if some of the contents are not already there.

The Xbox 360 RE5 pack will come in a cool metal case, including a soundtrack CD, entitled, "Biohazard 5 Selection Track," based from the Japanese translations from Capcom's site. It's pretty cool - the metal case sounds neat, but it's a limited offer so you can't guarantee that you can get one.

Capcom also reveals a special limited edition pack, which comes in much cooler box, with a 2GB USB memory stick, a 32-page art book, and a waist pouch that looks like the one used in the game. Now that's a big pull.

Behold Japan's Resident Evil 5 LE, with console-specific extras

Capcom Japan's online store has put up a pre-sale page for the limited edition of Biohazard 5, a.k.a. Resident Evil 5 to us gaijin. It's a handsome LE treatment for the game, and is interesting in that PS3 and 360 will each receive their own variation with unique bonuses.

Set to go on sale March 3, 2009 at ¥12,800 ($137), both LE sets include a 2GB Tricell USB drive, 32-page art book, and BSAA "Waist Pocket" like the characters in the game wear. On the PS3 side, the game's Blu-ray Disc will include a making-of documentary; the 360 edition will actually come in two flavors: a Deluxe Edition, which includes a Biohazard 5 Selection Track soundtrack CD, and the Limited Edition which ... doesn't. The 360 "DE" will apparently be even more limited than the LE.

Capcom hasn't revealed plans for a US limited edition for either version of RE5, but, given the increase in volume of premium bundles in the last two years alone, we'd be surprised if its marketing folk don't come up with something special for Western gamers.

Straight PSP Ports can work, says Sony

The idea of porting games from the console into a handheld like the PSP is not really a very popular one. Sony itself admits that this notion was a failed one when they first started trying it with early PSPs.

However, given the relative successes of the ported version of games like "Transformers (DS, PC, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360) and Iron Man (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, DS, and PSP)," John Koller, the head of hardware marketing at SCEA, says that conventional wisdom on direct ports doesn't seem to hold if the franchise is big enough.

The NPD Group reported that the PSP version of Transformers and Iron Man sold 442,000 and 242,000 copies respectively. Sony felt this counts as a success given the games' failed console counterparts.

So what does this all mean? According to Koller, we should expect a lot more big franchise games for the PSP coming in 2009. The announcements will be coming soon.

Sony: Straight PSP Ports Work If Your Franchise Is Big Enough

Sony has made it clear that the original development philosophy of the PSP — porting console experiences to a handheld — was a failed one.

The new model, as Sony has described it to MTV Multiplayer several times, is rooted in expanding big franchises with a new experience on PSP.

When I recently spoke with John Koller, head of hardware marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, he specifically cited “Transformers” and “Iron Man” as proof that a new PSP development model, one anchored on franchises, was working.

But there’s a problem…

Those games are only half of the “winning” equation he’s talking about. “Transformers” and “Iron Man” are ports of console games. “Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core,” however, is something wholly unique but rooted in a giant franchise. So, can franchise alone carry a game? If it’s big enough, Sony argues.

The NPD Group told MTV Multiplayer that the PSP version of “Transformers” sold 442,000 copies, while “Iron Man” pushed 242,000 copies. In Sony’s eyes, those are both extremely successful PSP games…even if they use a “failed model.”

Koller has told me several times to expect big franchise games to be announced 2009. Those should start being announced soon. But will the inevitable “Transformers 2″ and “Iron Man 2″ follow the same formula?
