As if all the images and videos weren't enough evidence, we've now received official confirmation from Microsoft that new Xbox 360 Arcade units do come with 256MB of internal storage. Speaking with us, a Microsoft spokesperson said quite simply, "We are constantly updating the console's more than 1700 internal components. We can confirm that we are moving to internal memory for the Xbox 360 Arcade. The physical internal memory is the same size as the previous external memory units - 256MB."

So there you have it kids, the Xbox 360 Arcade now has internal memory instead of an external Memory Unit. That means you can save games and download content right out of the box, but if you want to take it anywhere, you'll need to pick up a Memory Unit like everyone else.
Microsoft confirms 256MB internal storage in Xbox 360 Arcade units originally appeared on Xbox 360 Fanboy on Tue, 02 Dec 2008 17:46:00 EST.
SCi, the parent company to Eidos Interactive, is rumored to be in takeover talks with EA and Ubisoft. This comes a year after a previous rumor that said the company was in takeover talks with an unidentified company. The latest grumblings come from an anonymous source who said that SCi has been contacted by ‘two separate firms’ recently about a possible buyout. According to this source the talks are at an ‘early-stage’ and EA and Ubisoft have been named as the possible suitors.

Interest has been piqued in SCi due to a steep drop in the value of the company. Reports have the company that was once worth £1billion, now going for about £50 million today. What makes it look even more dire, is the fact that one year ago the company was worth £600 million.

No confirmation has been given from any of the supposed companies involved in the matter. So for now we’ll just have to trust the word of someone who’s name we do not know.

It seems the Internet may have jumped the gun on PS3 system software version 2.53 -- we told you about it last week, since it appeared that Sony had preemptively (and presumably, inadvertently) revealed the details on the update on their official Web site. Now, we feel completely safe to report on the firmware; we’ve got confirmation over at the PlayStation.Blog from Eric Lempel, Director of PSN Operations, that v2.53 is “coming soon.” Here’s what we’re getting:

Hi everyone, in the next PS3 firmware update (v2.53), coming soon, we’re improving the way the Flash Player works with the internet browser. In addition to being able to access more sites using Flash, you’ll be able to enjoy:

Full-screen mode playability

Live movie (using RTMP format) playability

Now it’s going to be even easier to enjoy web content on your PS3, in full-screen!

Well, it’ll be midnight here on the East Coast in less than five minutes, so we’ll let you know if “soon” translates to “tomorrow.” Here’s hoping I’ll finally be able to full-screen the media players of Hulu and other Flash-based video sites.

[Via PlayStation.Blog -- thanks, Joe!]

[Update: It appears that the update went live shortly before midnight EST; it took me about twelve minutes to download and an additional two to three minutes to install. Hit the jump for notes on my brief sojourn through the world of Flash-based Web video players.]

Below are two ESRB listings, one for The Dark Spire, and the other for Steal Princess…

Steal Princess
Platform: Nintendo DS
Rating: Everyone 10+
Content descriptors: Language, Mild Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes

Rating summary: This is an action game in which players assume the role of a princess who traverses lands, solves puzzles, and battles creatures in order to save a prince and her kingdom. Players progress from map-to-map and sometimes face creatures that use axes, projectiles, and rockets against them. Players usually blink when attacked, while creatures fall down and disappear when struck. Some female characters wear outfits that reveal cleavage, and there is one still image that depicts the main character bending over in a short skirt with her underwear showing. Profanity (e.g., “bastard,” “hell,” and “damn”) is used within the dialogue of the story.

——————————————-

The Dark Spire
Platform: Nintendo DS
Rating: Everyone 10+
Content descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Fantasy Violence, Language, Suggestive Themes

Rating summary: This is a role-playing game in which players traverse through a dungeon to look for a stolen treasure. Players encounter monsters throughout the dungeon and can choose from a list of actions such as “attack,” “defend,” and “run.” Some story elements have graphic descriptions of violence (e.g., “…cut his own wrists and sprayed his blood” and “the sword impaled her through the chest”). Character accessories can include “bikini armor” and a “frilled codpiece,” while one scene mentions an “erotic panda.” Expletives (e.g., “bastard” and “hell”) can be seen in the dialogue, as well as references to alcohol products (e.g., “breath that reeks of rum”).

———————————-

It looks like The Dark Spire may be a localized version of Genmu no Tou to Tsurugi no Okite. There is no confirmation of that just yet. I am sure Atlus will break the news soon.

The article from Official Nintendo Magazine has a few paragraphs to it, but I was only including what was necessary to confirm the story. It looks like Fatal Frame IV is indeed heading to Europe. According to the magazine, Nintendo will be publishing in Europe. While there is no official date, we are hearing that February 6th is looking good.

I am sure you are all wondering about a North American release. While the franchise is very well known, I’m not sure Nintendo of America will publish. It’s Reggie’s comment from awhile back that has me thinking this way. The good news is that XSEED seems to be in the know, and while they say they aren’t publishing, it looks like the title has a good shot at a North American release.

If you’re talking about Fatal Frame 4 for the Wii then it’s coming to the US, even though it won’t be by us. Can’t tell you who’s bringing it over, but keep your eyes peeled for an official announcement, hopefully sometime soon. - Ken @ XSEED Games

Let’s hope Nintendo Power springs that information on us via their next issue. Thanks to Seras and DiscipleinAgony for the heads up!

Last week, we heard a rumor concerning the European release date of Chrono Trigger. The gang at Eurogamer had said that an insider revealed a February release date to them. Of course, they couldn’t let us in on the details of just who that insider was. Now, we are hearing more rumblings about the February release, and this time we have a date.

As of right now, it looks like Chrono Trigger could hit Europe on February 6th, 2009. We are yet to get an official confirmation from the publisher, so hang tight on this one. With that said, things are definitely looking good for February.
