Listen to me…please. Do not let this game pass you by. This is EA supporting yet another brand-new game idea. These are gameplay types we are all familiar with, smashed into one title. While you think a platformer and a match-3 puzzler wouldn’t work together…they do, and they fit ridiculously well. I had a good 30 minutes of playtime with Henry Hatsworth In The Puzzling Adventure, and I’ve been craving more ever since. This game shouldn’t be stuck with the ’sleeper hit’ tag…it should be a full-blown success.

Gears of War 2 is a beautiful game. Yes, it has a lot of gray and brown in it, but it still has some of the best graphics that the 360 has to offer. According to Midway, however, the Mortal Kombat publisher has a secret title in the works that will more than match Epic Games' latest title.

"I just saw a demo of a new Midway game that's in development," claims Midway creative director Simon Woodroffe. "I can't tell you too much about it, but they've been on it for three months and it looks as good if not better than Gears 2. It's going to be really big and really important. It's not often, especially when you're a cynical type, that you see a prototype or creative slice and just get blown away by it. But in this case, the hype is justified.

While some of Midway's titles do use Epic Game's Unreal Engine 3, developmental problems in the past kept these games from making full use of the tools at had. This time around though, Woodroffe feels that they finally have the technical know-how on their side to compete at the top level via the shared knowledge between their 600-700 developers, all of whom have Unreal Engine experience.

This mystery game isn't likely to come out until around 2010, according to Woodroffe, which begs the question: How are they going to fare against Gears 3, which may very well be out by then and will Midway still be around at all given their recent financial woes?

Related Articles:

Unreal Engine 3: at fault for Midway Games' losses?

Midway posts more losses in Q3, will drop underperforming titles

Rockstar has released this video for two reason: 1) to demonstrate the new video editing tool in the PC version of GTA IV and 2) to show the hazards of littering. The video shows Niko walking up to a soda machine, drinking a can of “Sprunk,” and then tossing the can aside (cause nothing say “badass” like a blatant disregard for the cleanliness of your city). And then he gets blown up for it in what can only be described as “karma finally just loses it.” But the point of the whole thing is that it was made using only the video editing tools that will be included in the PC version of GTA IV. In other words, expect to see a whole lot of videos of Niko doing the “Soulja Boy” in the near future.

David Jaffe is an excitable man, and when The Jaffe gets excited, he gets REALLY F***ING EXCITED!! The latest subject to get the caps, swears and exclamation point treatment is God of War III. In a recent post on his personal blog, the God Of War I director shares his thoughts about the game’s visuals. In his own special way, of course.

As God of War III is still the subject of an NDA, Jaffe couldn’t give away proper details. There are, however, two things he does feel comfortable sharing. He even arranges them in a nice ordered list for us. They are:

“a- HOLY HOLY HOLY FUCKING HELL!!!!

b- I thought GEARS OF WARS 2 looked about as good as a next-gen game could look….and that game is currently- and will probably remain- my game of the year. And hell, I think I actually get to vote on that kind of stuff in some circles :) And unless I get blown away by POP or something else I missed, GEARS 2 is the SHIT….this year. Dudes and dudettes, fucking WAIT till you see the amazing graphics…just fucking wait.”

Mr Jaffe doesn’t finish there though. He also has the following words for those that may put his enthusiasm down to being a Sony fanboy.

“#1- I just said GEARS 2 is the BEST fucking playing and looking game of the year….better than any PS3 game. And there are some damn good PS3 games, I feel.

#2- FUCK YOU! I ain’t no fan boy but this mother fucking game looks like nothing you’ve ever played…and you can hold me to that when this thing hits and when they start showing gameplay footage. It looks like a painting come to life- it’s THAT good looking.”

So there you go. David Jaffe + God Of War III + Caps Lock = A whole ton of excitable swearing! Just don’t call him a fanboy.

In case you hadn't checked the Community Games channel lately, it has completely blown up since the New Xbox Experience debuted last week.

A handful of the titles showing up are exceptional, like Artoon, but a good percentage of the games are utter crap -- actually, that might be giving too much credit. But like I've stressed in the past, the few good games available make up for all the bad.

That's why it's so important everyone gets a fair shot at sharing their creation through the service. Microsoft seems to agree with this viewpoint, as its announced that starting on December 15, designers from Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand will be able to do just that.

This announcement may or may not have to do with the fact that Gambit, the team who won 2008's Dream-Build-Play competition with CarneyVale: Showtime, hail from Singapore.
