New Ghostbusters Trailer is Freaking Fantastic

We all knew that Ghostbusters: The Videogame would be hitting every gaming device known to man in June 2009 when the 25th anniversary edition of the movie is released, but when you watch the video posted above, you will wish that it was coming much sooner than June.

Of all the trailers I have seen over the past month or so, this one is the best. Granted, the Riddick trailer posted earlier today was way beyond cool, but this one is the winner hands down in my opinion.

Animal Crossing Asks "How are you, [EXPLETIVE DELETED]?"

Sorry, Nintendo. You can try and try to hype up a game as being family-friendly and do whatever you can to keep it that way, but it still only takes one wayward employee to flush all that down the toilet. Apparently, some members of the press have received copies of the new DS title, Animal Crossing: Wild World, that comes with some content already unlocked…including one very out-of-place racial slur. One of the features of the game is that you can teach characters to say certain messages to you, and it seems someone at Nintendo decided to train one of them to call the player “N—a.” So now when you talk to the adorable sheep named Baabara, she greets with phrases such as, “How are you, N—a?,” “So got any juicy gossip for me, N—a?,” and “Want to get crunk tonight and pour out a forty for our fallen homies, N—a?” (okay, so that last one was totally made up).

It should be noted that this word was only allowed to appear in the game thanks to an “N” symbol with a tilde in front of it. Nintendo has put in several checks and measures in the game to ensure certain words and phrases can’t so easily be used, not to mention the usual Friend Codes to ensure you don’t find such content appearing in your village from total strangers.

Still, could this be a sign of a new gangsta Animal Crossing on the way? I’m thinking GTA, but with cute bunnies doing drive-bys. Of course it’s either that or a surprise visit from the ACLU.

Stills from Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Leaked

We’ve heard quite a few details about the upcoming movie, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, but we still haven’t actually seen much from it aside from a dirty-faced Kristin Kreuk or a tank top wearing Moon Bloodgood. Now though, it seems that JoBlo has gotten their hands on a few stills from the movie itself that show Chun-Li in action. And by “Chun-Li in action,” I mean “Kristin Kreuk knocking people out or looking pensively over her shoulder.” Yeah, without the blue dress and spiked wrists, I just have a hard time seeing what any of this has to do with Street Fighter. At least we know Vega and some of the other characters — who aren’t named Ryu or Ken — will be showing up at some point.

Dragon Age: Origins Screens Show off Some Scary Looking Enemies

Bioware has released some new screenshots for their upcoming RPG for the PC, Dragon Age: Origins which is looking pretty darn good–and I am not just saying this because I am an RPG nut.

The developer is also promising to release a constant stream of media content from their game between now and the expected March 23, 2009 release date. The next set of screens are set to be revealed this month sometime, and will introduce players to “The Blight”:

The Chantry teaches that it is the hubris of men that brought the darkspawn into our world. Mages sought to usurp Heaven, but were cast out, twisted by their own corruption, only to return as monsters–the first of the darkspawn. They plague the underground caverns and tunnels once inhabited by the dwarven kingdoms. When they discover one of the Old Gods, ancient dragons slumbering in the depths of the earth, it rises as an archdemon to lead the darkspawn as they spread like locusts across the surface lands, destroying all in their path: a Blight. It has been four centuries since the last Blight, but the darkspawn are amassing once again.

Dragon Age: Origins will also be made available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but console users will have to wait until November 3, 2009 to get their hands on a copy.

Rockstar Reveals More Quirky Videos Made With GTA IV PC's Video Editor

Grand Theft Auto IV `Exploder` Trailer

After releasing the strange, but amusing “Get Sprunk” video, Rockstar has now released a couple more videos that show off the capabilities of the upcoming video editor in GTA IV for the PC. The one above is titled “Exploder,” and is basically a fake trailer for one crazy action movie. There’s also a second video after the break called “The Amazing Conrad” that’s just kind of strange. From the looks of things though, that video editor is certainly going to allow people to create a wide range of videos. Unfortunately, knowing the internet, I’m sure you’ll have to wade through a lot of hastily thrown together Linkin Park music videos before you can find anything actually worth watching.

The Eagles, Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins Headed to Guitar Hero: World Tour

Some decent downloadable content for Guitar Hero: World Tour is heading our way this month and consists of the very popular and sometimes genius stylings of The Eagles, Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins. These bands are already present on the game disc, but the new content coming from each should give fans or gamers feeling a bit of music fatigue a bit of a relief.

Tomorrow, December 4, The Smashing Pumpkins will have a three-song track pack available for purchase consisting of the songs “G.L.O.W.”, “1979″, and “Everlasting Gaze”.

December 11 will see the release of the Nirvana track pack which includes the songs “Silver”, “Negative Creep” and “You Know You’re Right” (awesome song).

On December 18 The Eagles track pack will feature a tune off of Long Road Out of Eden, their seventh studio album, titled “Frail Grasp on the Big Picture” as well as classic tunes “Life in the Fast Lane” and the fun yet spooky sounding “One of These Nights”. Hopefully “Witchy Woman” will be made available soon because that one is just fun to sing along to, especially when Don Henley does his “wolf howling at the moon” impression. At least that is my interpretation of the “oooohoooo” during the chorus.

Rounding out the downloadable set list for Guitar Hero: World Tour are three FREE Reggae grooves coming December 23. The Reggae Rock Track Pack is comprised of “Jimi” from Slightly Stoopid, “Your Face” from Pepper and from Expendables’ comes “Sacrifice”. These songs will only be available in a track pack, but Wii users will be able to download them individually.

The Eagles, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins Track Packs will be available on Xbox Live for 440 Microsoft Points ($5.50) or individually for 160 Microsoft Points ($2.00) and on the PlayStation Store for $5.49 or $1.99 respectively.

The Godfather II "Key to Success" Trailer

The Godfather II is expected to be released by Electronic Arts for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in February 2009 and supposedly goes beyond the film’s story by setting players in the world of organized crime in 1960’s Florida, Cuba and New York.

Storyline: After being promoted by Michael Corleone to Don of New York, players expand to new cities, as they build up their families through extorting businesses, monopolizing illegal crime rings and defeating new families in an effort to become the most powerful mob family in America. To help players manage their empire, The Godfather II introduces “The Don’s View” — an innovative strategy meta-game that allows players to oversee the entire world as they grow the family business. Using the Don’s View, players will be able to build, defend and expand their crime rings, while keeping an eye on the movements and plans of the rival families. Players will also learn to master the business of organized crime by building a family of Made Men, hiring crew, handing out orders, and promoting their best men up the ranks.

Details for The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

We have known for a while know that The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena was heading to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, but what has been a bit scarce are the actual details on the game–especially after being dropped by Activision.

Today, however, Atari and developer Starbreeze Studios have revealed a bit more about the upcoming first-person shooter which is set for a Spring 2009 release.

The newest title in the Riddick franchise is a hi–definition re-imagined version of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, featuring an entirely new chapter in the saga with the inclusion of online multiplayer combat. The player is cast deeper into the universe depicted in the Riddick films and as you step into the shoes of our hero, you will be using stealth and action to overcome the merciless crew of the predatory Merc-ship Dark Athena which awaits its prey in the dark reaches of space. Cheating death through a series of battles and events, Riddick will fight for his life amid a storm of malevolence and horror. Mwha ha ha ha!

Game Features:

Multiple forms of combat – Unique blend of first-person range and melee combat with stealth kills and counter-attacks
Atmospheric and cinematic first person shooter – Great story telling in sci-fi environments handled with AAA Hollywood treatment for an immersive journey through Vin Diesel’s blockbuster universe

Atari To Revisit Forgotten Realms Based Baldur's Gate

Yesterday, during the big Atari press conference in London, Infrogames President Phil Harrison mentioned that Atari is planning on future installments of Forgotten Realms games Baldur’s Gate, Dungeons & Dragons, Neverwinter Nights and the racing game Test Drive Unlimited. Being that I am a huge Baldur’s Gate fan, I cannot believe I missed this yesterday, but here it is anyway.

The bad news, at least for fans of any of the above titles, is that none will be released within the next year. However, Harrison did promise that “you will hear more from these but not today, because we’re focused on 2009″. Fine then, dangle the worm out there in front of us, let us bite and then just let us float in the water a bit there Phil. We don’t mind (note the sarcasm).

What else the company may have in store for Neverwinter Nights remains to be seen, because they just released the Storm of Zehir expansion last month. However, the thought of actually getting my hands on another Baldur’s Gate game is what really excites me. The PC games were very fun, and even the console version Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance was loads of fun especially with Drizzt popping in at the end (Interplay, Black Isle Studios)– but I won’t even mention the crappy Dark Alliance 2. Wait, I just did. Yeah, it sucked. Hopefully Atari will not make the same mistakes Vivendi and Black Isle did with that stinker should they decide to revisit the console route with it the series. Unless, of course, Vivendi holds the console rights. I have no idea and don’t really care. I just want another good Baldur’s Gate game.

At any rate, Phil Harrision also mentioned what Eurogamer called an “early-09 pledge” for actual retail releases of Sam & Max: Season Two on PC and Wii (no exact date given), and Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution for Wii in March.

Prince of Persia: The Fallen King Launch Trailer

In preparation for it’s Dec. 4 release, Ubisoft has unveiled a new launch trailer for the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Fallen King. This new game arrives on the DS about the same time as it’s console big brother, but sporting some cartoony graphics. This is the first time I’ve seen some actual gameplay for this title, and for a DS side-scroller, the game looks pretty slick. It looks like they’ve actually translated the Prince’s signature acrobatics into 2D pretty well. Guess we’ll find out how the whole thing plays in a couple of days.
