I-play announced today that puzzle nerds who own an iPhone or an iPod touch can now download Jewel Quest II from the Apple App Store.  Based on iWin’s successful franchise involving a fun and oftentimes maddening (I owe a few gray hairs to it) search for hidden treasure via bobbles, Jewel Quest II can now be yours for the taking.

In the game, you are Rupert who is once again following clues on a treasure trail. This time the setting is Africa where he is not only searching for jewels (of course) but his lost love as well (awwww) amid 50+ puzzles and iPhone-specific gameplay mechanics.

I don’t know about you, but there were many times that I went to bed at night after grinding away at the original Jewel Quest and had the damn theme music coursing through my brain and invading my dreams. Maybe that can be chocked-up to having a demented and overtly mad piece of gray matter in my head, but it is the god’s honest truth.

At any rate, Jewel Quest II is now available worldwide for $8.99 from Apple’s App Store. Full press release is posted after the jump, which includes the prerequisite happy quotes from all involved.

NEW YORK, NY—September 4, 2008—I-play, a leading multi-platform casual games publisher, today announced that Jewel Quest II for iPhone and iPod touch is available from the Apple App Store.  Jewel Quest II is a puzzle adventure game based on iWin’s successful Jewel Quest franchise involving an entertaining search for hidden jewels and lost love.

“Jewel Quest is already one of the most popular casual games ever made,” said Don Ryan, Chief Operating Officer, Oberon Media, I-play’s parent company.  “The introduction of Jewel Quest II to millions of iPhone and iPod touch users further solidifies our expertise in developing high-quality content for consumers. It is a great opportunity for us and for gaming fans.”

“Our Jewel Quest franchise is an award-winning, worldwide phenomenon that has achieved more than 60 million downloads,” said CJ Wolf, CEO and co-Founder of iWin. “We are excited to partner with I-play to bring such a stellar game to an avid new audience of iPod touch and iPhone gamers.”

The Jewel Quest franchise continues with Jewel Quest II, a puzzle adventure game updated to utilize iPhone’s advanced graphics and innovative Multi-Touch user interface.  The game follows Rupert as he picks up a new treasure trail in search of the most cryptic Jewel Board ever.  Users guide him through the mystery as he explores Africa in search of jewels and his lost love.  With over 50 engrossing puzzles, a deeper, more intriguing storyline and all new iPhone-specific gameplay mechanics, Jewel Quest II will have gamers hooked for hours.
