Publisher Codemasters and developer Blue Omega Entertainment are hoping to evolve the shooter genre with the original IP, Damnation.
Said to be a "unique and exhilarating combination of fluid action and combat," based on the press release and screens I couldn't tell you if this game is a first- or third-person shooter. What I do know is that the game will feature huge environments ("miles of distance and thousands of vertical feet") in which you'll perform all sorts of acrobatics and vehicle stunts. Most interestingly, each game level is said to feature three hours of gameplay, so make sure you pack a lunch.
On top of the single-player experience, Damnation also features multiplayer options that take place in the game's expansive environments. I just hope it doesn't take three hours to travel between spawn points, because as annoying cool as that sounds, I've got things to do.
Damnation will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this Winter.
