Last week, the MVP (Most Valuable Professional) Summit was hosted at the Microsoft campus and in Downtown Seattle. The Summit is a way for Microsoft to touch base with enthusiasts and give them a little taste of what goes on behind the scenes at the company. We had 32 Xbox and Games for Windows MVPs in attendance who traveled from all over the globe to be here.

We showed upcoming games, talked about things like LIVE policy and even went to a party at a shipyard in Seattle where the Northwestern is currently harbored. Yes, the Northwestern from the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch. The MVPs got to eat fresh King Crab and Salmon before playing some of the game based on the TV show. Jeff Bell, Aaron Greenberg, Major Nelson, TriXie, Michael Wolf, e, and many others all came to share information with the group.

One of the most important things we did as a team this year was to give all of the MVPs the time to present to us those things that they would like to change about the Xbox 360. All of the presentations were shared with key people on the Xbox team.

Something that is often overlooked about the program is that we’re not seeking out fanboys. We’re not trying to buy anyone’s loyalty. We recognize those who are passionate – those who lead or have credibility in their communities. We also don’t expect anything in return as it’s simply recognition for the previous year’s contributions to their groups. However, we are grateful to those who give us the kind of feedback that will make our system better. If all we did was look at rabid fanboys who do nothing but tell us our system is great, we could never improve.

Another highlight of the summit was the party thrown at the EMP (Experience Music Project) in Seattle. Rock Band was set up in a theater there and I’ve posted a link to some video footage of the summit activities captured by one of our MVPs, Peench, below. I apologize in advance for the uh… noise made by Tony. For more photos from the event, check out the sets by GamerscoreBlog, cjivan, bapenguin, Rabid72, Tyler Photos, Peench, Avid x3ro and Wiseguy.
