Square Enix announced Star Ocean: The Last Hope today for the Xbox 360. This is the latest entry in the futuristic space opera RPG series Star Ocean and is scheduled for a global release in 2009 - but specific dates have yet to be decided.
Also known as Star Ocean 4, in The Last Hope players will experience a battle system that features 4 party members, and is also more team-oriented that the previous entries in the series. The hero’s name is Edge Maverick, along with the heroine, Reimi and the has more of a sci-fi emphasis than past titles, with the ability to control your own ship. The ship is quite large, and will be able to land on at least 5 planets or other space-based destinations. The game will also take place a few centuries before the original Star Ocean.
Working directly with tri Ace (Infinite Undiscovery) Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi stated during a conference that while Star Ocean: The Last Hope is indeed being released on the Xbox 360 first Square Enix has not decided whether it will be released on the PS3 as of yet.
