Sony announced today that the BETA testing of its Virtual World community for the PlayStation 3 will continue through Summer 2008... Revealed at GDC 2007, PlayStation Home was showcased in this video, with a public BETA for up to 15,000 users planned to start in the following months, and the free service due to launch on the Sony PlayStation Network in October 2007. The Closed BETA began on the 3rd of May. Further details were presented at the Sony Booth & Sony's Press Event at E3 2007. Still in Closed BETA, the launch was then pushed back from October to "Spring 2008"... Kazuo Hirai, President and the Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, said today: "...we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience..." The Open BETA is now scheduled to commence in Fall 2008...
