No More Heroes Originally For The 360

No More Heroes, an interesting Wii title from the mind of Suda51, has been used time, and time again, as proof that Wii can have hardcore titles just as well as Wii Sports. However, after the game’s relatively soft sales in Japan, the game’s creator himself said this might not be the case after all. If you thought that No More Heroes is simply too “hardcore” to be a Wii game, it turns out you may be right. In fact, the game started out as a Xbox 360 title. Suda51 stated that the game was then changed to be a Wii title because of the appeal of the Wii Remote.

“Originally, I’d wanted to make this game for Xbox 360, actually. [Marvelous Interactive boss] Wada-san had information about the new Wii and how the new controller would work before it came out, so that’s why he thought I should produce the game on that format.

At the time, I didn’t really understand why, but after seeing and understanding how it works, I think it was a good choice and the controller works really well with the game.”

If Suda51 thought that the sales for No More Heroes in Japan were disappointing, imagine how bad it would have been had he released it on the 360.
