Compiling a list of all NPD date reported for the year-end, they have revealed the 2007 total estimates for units sold of both hardware and the top ten best selling titles. First up is the hardware side of things, surprising no body, Nintendo DS is sitting way on top with the Playstation 3 taking up the rear. It’s been pretty demonstrative of the year, with very little movement occurring between consoles. There has been the occasional rearrangement, but for the most part the consoles broke down in this lineup throughout 2007, the Wii sometimes breaking into first or falling behind all depending on supply.

Wii - 6.29 million
Xbox 360 - 4.62 million
PlayStation 2 - 3.97 million
PSP - 3.82 million
PlayStation 3 - 2.56 million

Halo 3 being the number one title in 2007 isn’t a big shocker either, although the guitar hero franchise generated the most revenue in total between games. Amazingly, the runner up is Wii Play. While it can be excused for being a ten dollar pack in with a needed peripheral device, there is no denying that Nintendo has managed to charge an extra ten dollar to over 4 million people in the US, and that is a big achievement in and of itself. The option to buy standalone controllers are always there, but Nintendo has managed to up charged well over half the US install base, and insane number in and of itself. NPD only lists the diamond version of pokemon in top ten, while we know Pearl sold below, it at least sold 660 000 units less than its near identical brother. It would be interesting to see what sale Pokemon did combined, and is obviously another franchise that can still rival Halo and Guitar Hero for 2007 overall.
