Best Buy's 'Wii For Women' Day a Mixed Success
2008-04-01 11:02:25 by Chris Kohler in Wired: Game|Life

Wiigirl Best Buy's recent "Wii for Women" event, a day of Wii playing geared at soccer moms held Sunday at about fifty of its stores, made headlines last week. But was it a success?

A 1up.com reporter attended the Boca Raton, Florida event and says: Kind of.

"I think it's more for the teenager and middle school kids than the moms," said one attendee. "It didn't appeal to me. Not at all."

But another mom said she loved it: "I liked the whole physical part about it, getting some exercise -- I definitely would like to buy one."

For Best Buy's part, they considered the nationally-advertised event a success, not least because they sold about fifty Wii consoles in an hour and a half.
