Pre-release leaks are the worst nightmare for any publisher, no matter what industry they are linked to. But in case of games, the losses company bears are even more and one can guess the reaction of those who loose. That’s what Ubisoft is going through; their upcoming game Assassin’s Creed’s pirated version was traced by the company and for that they have filed a suit against a disc reproduction plant Optical Experts Manufacturing.

The North Carolina based company has been accused of failing to provide enough security to prevent the leak of the above stated game. Actually, the game connects to Ubisoft’s server while accessing some features and that’s how they came to know that someone is using an unauthorized version of the game (as its release is still due). So, at the time when OEM’s employee was probably trying his hands on this new unreleased game, Ubisoft’s servers were busy getting connected to his PC. The officials at Ubisoft traced the user to be OEM’s employee and on searching his home they found an unauthorized copy of the game.

Ubisoft’s suit can cost OEM some good $10 million as that’s the figure OEM’s gonna get sued on the charges of “copyright infringement, breach of contract, and negligence.” So if you are an employee of such a company then don’t pirate a copy of a software. Or if you choose to do it, then be bit smarter and don’t use it while being connected to a PC. Ignorance is bliss, but at times it can cost you $10 Million (at least to your company).
