Some new shots have emerged for Trauma Center: Under The Knife 2. Coincidentally, I’ve played a wee bit of the surgery sequel today, so I can bring you my early thoughts on the game. Good timing, no?
So it’s a return for Derek and Angie from the first game, after a brief spell in charge of the OR for Markus Vaughn and Valerie Blaylock in Wii sequel New Blood. And they’ve had a makeover, too - the visuals are cleaner and sharper than the DS original, taking their cues from the crisp look of the two Wii games.
As for the game itself - well, it’s essentially more of the same. The story’s a little different - this time Derek and Angie have to deal with the aftermath of the GUILT virus - but the structure’s almost identical. The presentation seems a little more assured than before, though it does get a bit too talky, even at this early stage. And the operations? Just as palm-sweatingly, brow-furrowingly intense as ever - though there’s now an Easy mode if you’re struggling.
Perhaps more of an expansion pack than a sequel in many ways, Under The Knife 2 is still looking good so far. Hopefully a few new ideas later on in the game will keep things fresh.
