There's something kind of endearing about overseas product scams in the video game universe. While a knock-off iPod will be looked at with utter disgust, a Famiclone posing as a ten dollar PlayStation 3 is just shy of adorable. The bargain next-gen retro machine tops the chart as last year's top story this week along with a host of other retro-related stories such as a death montage, Konami's elderly citizens, the intrinsic value of Extra Lives, and Best Buy pawning off their aging video game inventory for peanuts.
Last but not least: Microsoft began testing Games for Windows Live, a service that is still limping along with old and lackluster titles. Sure, Halo 3 may be able to breathe some viability to it, but maybe Microsoft should consider launching a Windows Lite for gamers that spares us from the bloat of Vista first? I bet my "gaming index" went up a points after I upgraded back to XP!
