Sega has confirmed that its  UK-based Sega Racing Studio is closed effective immediately, reports Next-Gen.

According to a statement from Sega Europe, Sega is closing the studio because "the Sega Racing Studio's 5 year plan would not result in a successful return for the Sega business moving forward." Formed in 2005, to date the studio had released just one game, last year's Sega Rally Revo for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Sega has not released details on  whether or not Sega Racing's more than sixty employees will be offered positions at other Sega studios.
